Pavement Licence Regime Extended For Another Year

With the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill taking its time to make its way through the legislative process it comes as little surprise that the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities have introduced a Statutory Instrument extending the Pavement Licence regime from 30 September 2023 to 30 September 2024.

The Business and Planning Act 2020 (Pavement Licences) (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 have been introduced via the draft affirmative procedure whereby the Regulations are laid in draft and require approval in Parliament before being signed into law.

The draft Regulations were introduced in the House of Commons and the House of Lords on 7 June 2023 and considered by the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments on 14 June 2023.

It is expected that the Regulations will be approved and become law in the coming days.
